OMCC Non-Stop Trial Round 2 this weekend

Just a reminder to get yourself down to the Oakleigh club this Sunday for the second round (of three) in the non-stop trials series. With dwindling event numbers in Victoria this year, this is your chance to enjoy the lighter side of competition.

Remember, non-stop rules are designed to help beginner and novice riders so its an ideal event to come and try the competition side of things. There are three grades that are designed to cover all abilities, from first timers to the more advanced riders.

The event will be self scored (riding in pairs and scoring each other), but at least one club official will be doing the rounds and making sure those stops are picked up!
9.30am sign on
10am start
We are also pleased to have the Victorian Bike Trials Series holding an event at the club grounds on the same day.

Oakleigh MCC Non-stop Trials Series 2016

Non-stop trials were revived in Europe in an attempt to regulate modern riding techniques and to promote dwindling grass roots trials. Numbers attending local club trials in the UK have generally increased since its introduction.

Whilst hopping and other advanced techniques are great to watch and are achievable by the upper level riders, it is generally beyond the capabilities of most club and youth riders. In addition to providing an opportunity for club riders of differing skill levels and ages to compete, the non-stop rule keeps sections flowing, provides an interesting spectacle for spectators, and above all – IS FUN!

Australia hasn’t adopted non-stop rules but after the success of the series last year, Oakleigh MCC is once again running a club mini-series for our members and is also open to riders from other clubs. Day Licences will be available. Here are some key points on the series:

• This series is about having fun and getting people out on their bikes. That includes families and those of you with cobwebs on your bike.
• There will be three rounds with points allocated for each round.
• Three classes will be set out – CLUBMEN (blue), INTERMEDIATE (yellow) and EXPERT (red).
• Non-stop trials are technically challenging but are much less severe in terms of obstacles and run-ups to the obstacles.
• The Clubmen line will be suitable for all junior and youth riders as well as general clubmen.
• The Intermediate line is aimed between C and B riders.
• It is expected that expert riders will hop but stopping when doing so = 5! Typically, a 1 second stop is permitted for all grades.
• Twin-shock riders are welcome and twin-shock bikes should be more competitive than in normal trials.
• The trials will be self-observed. New to the concept? Club riders will be there to help all riders.

Round Dates: R1 – 9.30am 16th October / R2 -TBC / R3 -TBC

Venue: Oakleigh Motorcycle Club, Simpsons Road, Clayton.

Entry Fees: $30 per round or $80 for full series entries.

TRS and Vertigo test day

This upcoming weekend The Hell Team are heading south with the new Vertigo Combat CAMO 300i and the TRS ONE 300 for a couple of sessions at Bendigo (Saturday) and the Oakleigh Motorcycle Club on Sunday.

These two new brands have made a big impact on the World Trials scene recently and The Hell Team would like to give interested riders the opportunity to test ride these bikes in Victoria this weekend.

This is for genuine interested riders and not a fun ride and all riders must be club members.

TDN presentation cheque

E7D_1294-aAt the Argyle 2 day trial in June, OMCC presented Phil Whittle (TDN manager) with a cheque for $2002 to help get our Australian trials team to this years TDN event in France.

It was greatly appreciated by Phil and I know that all the TDN riders would be very grateful of this contribution by Oakleigh MCC. With the Trial Victoria Club putting in $2000, I felt that we could go one better so $2002 did the job.

With many events happening around the country, there is still plenty of ways that clubs or individuals can support these guys to get them to France.

On a personal note, I would like to thank all the riders that took part in the Kyle Middleton training weekend and the OMCC for putting their hand in the bucket in supporting this years event.
