OMCC was well represented at the South Australia Trials week with 14 competitors. Starting with the South Australian State Titles, a mid-week Wednesday trial and the culminating in the Australia Titles on the final weekend it made it a great opportunity to get away and switch off. For anyone thinking about travelling interstate for trials events…do it. It’s a lot of fun.
The Vine Inn 2023 Australian Trial Championship at Eden Valley, hosted by Keyneton Motorcycle Club, was a warm weather event that reached 33 degrees on Saturday, cooler conditions on Sunday set the scene for a great outing among competitors.
Sections felt significantly harder than usual which seems to be par for ‘Aussies’. The State titles were more more of the usual standard.
Well done to our podium finishers:
Tim Lewis: 2nd Place Classic
Peter Spencer: 2nd Place Twin Shock
David Grice: 3rd Place Trial 4
We are very excited to announce that the Billy Green training dates are now open to be booked. Get in quick, spaces are very limited.
Billy Green (2023 Trial 2 World Champion) and his Partner Jazz Hammond (Multiple time SSDT rider) are heading down under for a summer of training across QLD, VIC & SA.
Australia hasn’t had an international rider come and run training for several years and so this will be a real treat.
Billy & Jazz are well versed in training; Together they have formed their own club Absolute Trials Training (ATT) to help deliver training on an ever-growing scale.
Between Billy & Jazz there will be the ability to cater for all skill levels and so expect the groups to be broken up and rotated throughout the day.
Bookings are essential and spots are extremely limited. Entries are all handled online via: https://entryplace.com.au/BillyGreenTraining-Oakleigh
We are a bit late getting started on the Summer Series. This has meant some date changes. We are also proposing some format changes to encourage newer riders to get between the flags.
The objective of the Summer Series is to encourage riders who don’t currently compete to try and grow their skills by riding a course someone else has set for them!
Please note the revised schedule and format as follows:
- Saturday 9th Dec 2023 (Non Competitive – Development Round, no MA License Required)
- Saturday 20th Jan 2024 (Format to be determined after first round)
- Saturday 10th Feb 2024 (Format to be determined after first round)
We look forward to embracing new riders (as well as returning riders) to this very popular series held at OMCC club grounds. Please wait for further announcements.
It was announced at the wrap up to South Australia’s trials week that Victoria will be hosting next years titles.
Key Dates are:
|Victorian State Titles||28th-29th September 2024||OMCC||Mt Bolton [tentative]|
|Mid Week Trail||2nd October 2024||OMCC||OMCC Club Grounds|
|Australian Titles||5th – 6th October 2024||TCV||Ravenswood Run [tentative]|
To mimic the South Australian Experience, we will also explore having a mid-week trial to encourage more to make the trip and host it at the OMCC club grounds, which will be new since Victoria last hosted this event.
We are happy to take expression of interest now for any willing volunteers or observers as this is a big undertaking and will require lots of hands to make light work. We will need sponsorship coordinators, event officials, help with logistics, first aid, section setters and of course observers.
Please reach out to us if you have any questions or can help: [email protected]
Each year the club seeks nominations for Life members. The goal is to recognise someone who has made a significant contribution to the club and has been a member for over 5 years. Please reach out to a committee member with your nomination or please use our feedback form: https://www.oakleighmcc.com/info/feedback-form/
Nominations are due by Wed 13th December 2023 for the committee to review. Announcements will be made at the AGM.
OMCC will be hosting our Xmas break up BBQ at the club grounds on Sunday 10th December. All current financial members and life members are encouraged to join us for a social ride, awards presentation and season wrap up.
