Mt BawBaw Trial Results

Once again, the ski fields of Mt BawBaw produced a great trial with plenty to offer for all.

Many spectators were blown away with the “trial’s activity” being seen on the sky slopes and Mt BawBaw management very pleased with the way this sport is conducted.

7 sections from last year and 1 new one used with all existing being re-arrowed to give that new section feel.

With A, Expert and juniors doing 4 laps and the rest of the field completing 5 gave all riders and full days riding with not too much time left at the end.

Canberra’s Luke Anderson rode superbly to take out the A/Expert combined class on 32 pts with passed champion Dean Nuttall on 61 pts in 2nd and Zac Malarczyk with 71 pts in 3rd with also being the only riding doing the Expert lines.

With the Masters and B grade class combined, the older (or more experienced) riders took out the places with Simon VB in 1st, Phil Lewis in 2nd and Peter Wines in 3rd.

With Pat Sutton moving to B grade for the first time, it was Reece Chalmers taking out C+, Josh Aureri in 2nd and Bryce Robinson in 3rd.

Ben Hayes convincingly took out the C grade class with 2nd and 3rd place being quite close with Brad Watson edging out Bazil Tambanis.

Vets 40+ was also close with newly returned to the sport rider Tim Lloyd in 1st, Les Patterson in 2nd and John Rees in 3rd.

It was great to see the juniors getting around and having great fun also with Charlie Masovic, Sophie Haynes and Xavier Moore taking pops around (Steve Johnson).

Keep tuned for next year’s event with lots of new sections being considered further away from the ski centre.

Congratulations to OMCC for the huge effort getting this venue up and running and of course, all the officials and observers giving up their time for others to ride.

Oakleigh Gate Trial 26.11.2017

WHEN:   Sunday the 26th of November
WHERE:    Simpson Road, Clayton North, Victoria

Everyone is invited to participate in this Gate Trial practice event. The trial is to be held at the Oakleigh Club Grounds on the 26th of November 2017.

A gate trial is a different style of trial where all grades can compete against each other in the same sections. The idea is to score points by riding through pairs of arrows that define a “gate”. The rider decides which line to follow to get the maximum score possible for his or her riding ability. Unlike a normal trial, the rider with the most points wins.

Each grade will get their chance to score a set amount of points through their section AND more points by collecting extra gates as they are running through their section.
There will only be 3 grades; White, Blue and Red.

This will be a self‐scoring event with no trophies; however we do request that ALL riders are to be riding in pairs and score each other.

Hope to see you there.

Trials Development Report – VTS Round 2 – 14th May

We met up at a great new property in Ravenswood. The weather was perfect over the weekend with a dozen or so vehicles camping from vans, tents and swags. There were a couple of nice fires burning at night with good tunes from Rob Austin, and the kids running around till late with torches. It was a great night had by all.

The trials site has lots of rocks with great rolling terrain, with a well set trial with a short and easy walk between sections.

We had 8 kids & a small group of senior riders, working on turning, wheel placement and riding up and down big rocks.

A big thanks to Hillary Stephens and Jacob Whittle for their help with the kids – they had a great time, and are still talking about it today. Thanks again.

The Trials Development is for all riders that think they will benefit from practising with our more experienced riders. It suits any age and riding level.

We will be at Argyle on Sat 11th June from 1pm – 4.30pm if anyone would like to ride in the Trials Development Program, please contact Matt Hannaford 0417 506 693

Glenmaggie Pre-Entries extended till Thursday Evening

The Easter Bunny is only 5 of sleeps away and that means it’s Glenmaggie week! Oakleigh Club helpers have been out at Glenmaggie setting up the property and we’ve got a ripper weekend planned. There’s got plenty of great sections set and we’ve put in an order for perfect trials weather with mother nature.

Riders from all states (and 1 territory) are making the pilgramige to this iconic property that keeps deliverying every year. There is creeks, logs rocks, hills and plenty of in between to clean out those 2 stroke exhausts!

If you haven’t sent your entry in yet, we are extending pre-entries for Glenmaggie until Thursday Evening at the absolute latest. Here’s the deal though, if you pay for your entry via Bank Transfer and email your entry in to [email protected] we can pre-enter you for this event.

Good internet is sketchy at Glenmaggie, so pre-entries must close Thursday evening!
