2014 Vic Trial Championship Report (27th 28th Sep)

With positive responses from riders and helpers, I’m happy to say that the “Oakleigh Motor Cycle Club” did an excellent job in running the Victorian Trial Championships a few weeks ago.

As far as my knowledge takes me, it’s the 1st time we have run these titles over a 2 day weekend. We were blessed with excellent weather and the great site of Sedgwick.

The previous weekend was used to set 18 sections with riders from all classes marking out the Classics, Sidecars, White, Blue, Yellow, Red and Expert lines.

The Friday before the event was spent finalising and taping sections and to pick-out 12 suitable sections ranging from easy, medium to hard for all classes.

One of the great aspects of trials is there is always plenty of campers so Friday and Saturday nights were spent socialising around camp fires with our local guitar player (Rob Austin) giving us plenty of tunes which was well received by the local and many interstate riders and families.

Saturday event got underway with 77 riders attending riders briefing at 10:15am and sections open from 10:30am to 4pm. It didn’t take long from many riders commenting on the excellent flowing sections but still taking points of most.

The expert sections had even the best rider losing points but still wowing everybody with his smooth and precise riding style that makes other experts envy.

The observers did a great and consistent job throughout both days with lunch and refreshments coming from our great catering van of Nel Isherwood.

At the completion of the Saturday’s event, a group us went around to pick the six new sections as well as change the one we were using again.

Both days had 3 laps for all classes except for the Sub Junior class which did two laps which all riders were able to complete with time to spare.

Trophy presentations was done within 1/2hr of the closing time and section clean-up also.

As most of you have seen the results, Kyle Middleton once again took out the expert class but there were many other winners amongst the 15 classes we had.

We must thanks the TCV club for offering this great site and to the landowner Trent Wilkins.

I would also like to thank all the OMCC members with their great help in every aspect in creating and running this event.

I look forward to seeing you all in the near future and getting back on the bike to enjoy this great sport we all enjoy.
